2013 HCI Global Talent Management Summit Part 1: Integrated Talent Management
Engage Your People
Develop Your Workforce
Optimize Your Talent Strategy
With an increasingly competitive global market, firms must compete in an ever changing environment with a talent gap projected to worsen as time passes. Distinguishing a company from its rivals with a superior employer brand, stronger engagement of the workforce, or better customer relations can drive success, but which path should the business take? Michael Ehret, Vice President of Leadership, Development and Learning at Johnson & Johnson, shared his firm’s new Leadership Model today at the 2013 HCI Global Talent Management Summit.
“Johnson and Johnson touches a billion people every day. How will we touch the next billion?” Ehret asked, “The firm had to find a new way to lead differently.” Ehret shared their leadership model which is broken down into four parts: Connect, Deliver, Shape, and Lead. Johnson and Johnson looks to connect its employees, leaders, and communities by harnessing the power of collaboration. By anticipating where the market is headed the firm is able to shape their future. Leaders will lead by engaging the workforce in transparent and honest communication and will deliver by inspiring as opposed to deliver by decree.
Ehret coached the attendees, “Development is approached holistically and consists of identifying and leveraging strengths. It is a combination, not a prescription of formal and informal learning opportunities, strategic job assignments, personal experiences, and ongoing coaching and feedback, the goal of development is to maximize the potential of the whole self.”
