
Heidi teaches storytelling for professional contexts as well as business presenting and business writing at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. She is lead professor for the core MBA@UNC business communication course and lead professor for the MBA@UNC storytelling elective. She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award in 2003 to teach storytelling in Saxony, Germany. She was instrumental in founding the business school’s
management and corporate communication area and served as its chair for 16 years. She started the school’s Business Communication Center in 1997 and served as director of the Writing Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Heidi’s current teaching and research interests focus on “storytelling to influence and inspire,” the relationship between rhetorical patterns and effective writing, and communicating with data.
