Employment branding is more than spiffing up your message of materials; hiring a marketing firm for a catchy tagline is not enough. David Lee of HumanNature@Work reveals some of the top mistakes companies make during the brand definition phase.
- Unless your company is brand new, you have some type of employment brand; uncover your current state of affairs by interviewing current and past employees as well as job applicants.
- Differentiate your brand by gaining clarity on what makes you unique.
- Take action to strengthen your brand work, such as addressing a managerial need for coaching, to move the needle closer to that aspirational brand imprint.
