Measuring, Responding to Real-Time Employee Sentiment

Data, science and customer experience company 84.51° believe in making people’s lives easier, and that principle applies to its customers AND employees. 84.51°, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co., spent 2016-2018 looking at taking the company’s methods of analyzing consumer behavior, and using them to monitor employee behavior, which would better understand unmet needs of those employees.

In 2015, the company began measuring employee sentiment in real-time, asking employees every week, “How Ya Feeling?” Since then, company leaders have become aware of how employees are feeling, which allows for instant response without waiting for annual and unwieldy engagement surveys.

The company gathered almost two years of data and critical control charts that help leaders know when employee sentiment changes and understand the context of “why.”

You will learn:

  • The genesis of the employee sentiment tool
  • The approach used to collect and track sentiment data
  • The benefits that reach our organization and our employees
  • The lessons learned in using a weekly measurement of engagement
