Tamara D. Jakes is the director of Employee Experience at Aflac. She’s responsible for Aflac’s Career Success Centers, corporate mentoring program, Toastmaster chapters and employee engagement initiatives.
Jakes launched her Aflac career spanning more than 20 years in internal operations and leadership roles of increasing responsibility. Previously, she worked at Total System Services, Inc., managing both domestic and internal business partnerships.
She is a member of SHRM, the foremost expert, convener and thought leader on issues impacting today’s evolving workplace. Jakes also serves on the board of directors of The Urban League of the River Valley, Inc. and the Aflac Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Jakes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Troy University. She also holds certification in Lean Six Sigma and is a certified leadership and executive coach by the Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP).
