What Does a “Change Pathfinder” Look Like?
Author
Director of HR Strategic Services, Exelon
At Exelon, HR Strategic Services has developed an individual role responsible for modeling change for the organization - the “Change Pathfinder.” Hear Tim Hickey describe how to go beyond mere “change sponsorship,” channeling passion and authenticity into a contagious positive energy that supports and empowers organizational change. This video is excerpted from a full-length HCI webcast; watch the full version and download the slides here.
- Change leaders need structured support; designate a trail blazer to demonstrate new practices and make things “safe” for those individuals that are sponsoring changes.
- Integrate HR into the process by assigning work to passionate people and seeking third party perspective when necessary.
- Authenticity and vulnerability entail humility. It is imperative that you convey these qualities to succeed as a Change Pathfinder.
- Change is scary, but projecting a belief in your organization’s initiative(s) is critical. It will spread confidence throughout the organization, subsequently increasing your odds of success.
