This webinar will focus on actions you can take to be more courageous at work, and what you can do to inspire more courageous behavior among those you work with or lead. The concepts will be drawn from Bill Treasurer’s comprehensive training guide Courageous Leadership: Using Courage to Transform the Workplace (Pfeiffer, 2011).
Aristotle said that courage is the first virtue because it makes all the other virtues possible. Courage is the lifeblood of leadership, entrepreneurialism and innovation. In fact, without courage those concepts don't exist! Yet, until now, there have been no training programs dedicated solely to building workplace courage.
In normal times, workers can be divided into two broad camps; safety seekers and opportunity seekers. But in times of economic instability, such as right now, the majority of workers become
safety-seekers, often to the detriment of their organizations. When fear drives workers’ behaviors, they become distracted, afraid, and unproductive...just when their companies need them to be the opposite. Fear is bad for business.
Given the central role that courage plays in business, this webinar is highly relevant and timely.
The webinar will cover…
The impact that fear and comfort has on individual performance.
Four distinct types of courage and how to differentiate among them.
How to create an environment that supports courageous behavior.
The differences between leaders/managers who encourage workers, and those who discourage them. Bill calls them Fillers and Spillers.
Tips on how to be more courageous and how to inspire more courageous behavior among those you lead.
Bill Treasurer’s webinars are always fast-moving and engaging. The aim of the webinar is to underscore the importance of courage as the premier business virtue. Attendees will come away from the webinar refreshed, reinvigorated, and recommitted to advancing your organization’s goals. Similar webinars have been conducted for ASTD, the Center for Creative Leadership, Monster.com, and the International Association of Teamwork Facilitators.
