Acquisition of HCI by Simplify Compliance

Q. Will HCI's name change?
No, we will remain HCI (Human Capital Institute) and are now officially part of the Simplify Compliance family. For more information, please visit simplifycompliance.com.
Q. Will my login credentials for HCI's website change?
You will still be able to log in using your same credentials and access your transcript and details related to an upcoming certification program, webcast, virtual conference, or other HR content.
Q. What will happen to my HCI Certification?
Your HCI Certification will remain the same. If your certification is expiring in 2022, please plan to recertify as you normally would. Contact your learning consultant or email marketing@hci.org today with any recertification questions.
Q. I'm registered to attend an HCI Certification Program, Virtual Conference, or Webcast. Do I need to do anything?
No. Your registrations will remain the same.
Q. I'm enrolled in the Human Capital Academy. What should I do?
Thank you for enrolling! Please continue your HCI Human Capital Academy progress as you originally planned. If you'd like to discuss your program further, please contact your learning consultant or HR Advisor.
Q. I'm actively working with HCI or considering working with HCI to deliver an in-house Certification or Training Program for my HR or leadership team. What happens now?
We will continue to offer the same great certification and training programs for HR and leadership teams. If you'd like to discuss your program further, please contact your learning consultant or email marketing@hci.org.
Questions about Accounts
Q. How do I become a member of HCI? Is there a fee to be a member?
Anyone can join HCI by clicking here or the Login to MyHCI link at the top of the page. While a Community Membership is complimentary, we also offer Premium and Corporate Memberships that have additional benefits. If you or your organization is interested in learning about corporate memberships, please email marketing@hci.org.
Q. How do I access my account information?
- Click the Login to MyHCI link at the top of the page and enter your email and password
- Select your name then Account Details
Q. What do I do if I cannot remember my password?
Please use the password reset button on the login screen and follow the prompts. Be sure to check your junk/spam folder for the password reset email. Alternatively, you can always reach out to HCI Member Services through chat or support@hci.org.
Q. How can I update my email address, password, or contact information?
- Login to your MyHCI account
- Navigate to Account Details
- Under the Personal Information heading, click Edit, make any changes you need, then Save
Q. How can I update my email subscription preferences?
- Login to your MyHCI account
- Navigate to Account Details
- Visit the Subscriptions heading, select your preferences and click Save. Please allow up to seven business days for these changes go into effect.

Q. What are the online classes like?
HCI's online certification programs are delivered via Zoom. You can listen through your computer speakers or by phone, depending on your preference. To ensure you can join and participate in online programs, please take a few minutes to click here and test your browser.

Q. What are the requirements for an HCI certification?
To successfully earn an HCI certification, you must:
- Attend all sessions. You may be excused for a maximum of two hours of class time.
- Participate in group discussions, complete all classwork, and submit the evaluation.
- Pass the certification exam with a score of 80% or higher.
Q. What is the exam like?
The multiple-choice exam (required for all certification courses) can be taken any time after attending and does not expire. The exam consists of 40-60 questions depending on the course taken.
Q. How do I cancel or reschedule my training?
If you need to cancel or change your registration, please email support@hci.org with the existing course and dates that you wish to change as well as the desired new course and dates. Please refer to our cancellation policy here.
Q. How do I recertify my designation?
Each certification is valid for a three year period. Renewal is based on continuing education credits that demonstrate currency in the field. Credits may be earned by attending HCI learning programs, completing additional courses, or through outside educational activities. The accumulation of 60 credits extends the certification for three additional years. Learn more about HCI recertification here.
Questions about Webcasts
Q. Who can view HCI webcasts?
HCI community members can view live and a selection of on-demand webcasts free of charge. Our Community Membership is complimentary.
Q. How long are webcast presentations?
All webcasts last approximately one hour; 45 minutes for the main presentation and 15 minutes for Q&A.
Q. Do HCI's webcasts earn HRCI, SHRM, and HCI credit valid toward recertification?
HCI's webcasts each earn one general or business HRCI, SHRM, and HCI credit. Please note it can take up to 24 hours for the codes to appear in your transcript after viewing a live or on-demand webcast. If it has been more than 24 hours, please email support@hci.org with the webcast name and we will send you the credit codes.
Q. Do I receive credit for watching on-demand webcasts?
For HCI recertification, watching on-demand webcasts provides one credit, which doesn’t expire. For HRCI and SHRM, on-demand webcasts are eligible for credit up to two years past the original airdate. Please note: HRCI utilizes separate codes based on the date that you view the webcast. If you have questions, please email support@hci.org.
Q. How do I view my webcast credits?

Q. I see the webcast name in my transcript; however, the program code is missing. Where is it?
HCI webcasts are pre-approved, however, some codes take longer to process than others. Once the code has been processed, it will automatically populate in your transcript. You are able submit the webcast without the program code directly to your accrediting institution for credit as long as the webcast's name and date of viewing are provided.
Q. Why isn’t my on-demand webcast code working?
HRCI utilizes separate codes based on the date that you view the webcast. If you have questions, please email support@hci.org.
Q. How do I get the webcast to play? When I click the link, it takes me back to the webcast registration page.
Live webcasts start at the top of the hour in EST (New York) time. If you reach the page early, please refresh at the webcast start time for the player to appear. HCI's live webcast presentations are streamed using the Ustream platform.
Q. Can I view an HCI webcast on my smartphone or tablet?
Yes! You can watch HCI webcasts on your PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet.
Q. Where will the audio for the webcast come from?
The webcast audio will come through the speakers on your device; please make sure the volume is turned up.
Q. Which web browsers are supported?
We recommend using Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. For members using Internet Explorer, you must be using IE 10 or higher.
Q. I can't see the video. What do I do?
Please allow up to 30 seconds for the player to load, depending on your computer and Internet connection speed. If the video is still not loading, you may need to adjust some settings:
- Right-click on the player and select Settings
- Click Tab on far left (computer screen with a play button)
- Uncheck Enable Hardware Acceleration
- Refresh your browser
- Hover mouse over player and click on High and reduce to 240
Q. What if I see an "off-air" message?
This could be due to blocked proxy ports on your network. You may need to connect with your IT department or system administrator to determine if your network ports are open.
Q. I can't hear the audio; what do I do?
First, check that your speakers are turned on and your device volume is up. Next, hover over the player to check that the volume slider is turned up. If you are still having issues, please verify via your system sound mixer that you speakers and browser sound are on.
Q. I hear an echo. Where is it coming from?
Check that you don't have two tabs in your browser open with the video playing.
Q. I can't vote on Polls. What do I do?
Verify that you are using a supported browser and try refreshing your page. You can also open a new tab and visit http://www.polleverywhere.com/hciwebcasts or send in your vote via SMS texting with the provided information on the screen. Note: To view polls, you must be running IE 10 or higher, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
Questions about Conferences
Q. How do I cancel my conference registration?
If you need to cancel your registration or switch attendees please chat or email member services at support@hci.org. Please refer to our cancellation policy here.
Q. What is the dress code at HCI conferences?
The dress code is business casual.
Q. Can I earn HRCI, SHRM, and ATD credit through attending HCI conference?
Yes. Most of HCI's conferences earn HRCI, SHRM, and ATD continuing education credit.
Q. Where can I find my HRCI and SHRM program codes for courses, conferences, and webcasts that I've attended?

For ATD’s recertification process, there are no program codes. Please submit the title of the training or conference and the number of hours approved.
Questions about Digital Badges
Q. Which courses qualify for badges?
All certification programs, HR workshops, and our Human Capital Academy credential qualify for badges. Premium members also earn badges based on their years of membership.
Q. What do the badges look like?
Q. When will I receive my badge?
For certifications, you will receive a digital badge after you’ve completed a certification course and passed the exam. For HR workshop attendees, you will receive a badge after you have attended the workshop. For Academy certifications, you will receive your badge when you have completed all requirements. Premium members earn badges when their membership begins. An updated badge is issued for each subsequent year of membership.
You can also request a badge if you completed a certification or HR workshop with us March 2021 – March 2024 as long as the program is still part of our current offerings. Email support@hci.org for help receiving your badge.
Q. How will I receive my badge?
Your badge will be emailed to you after you complete your course or when you become a new member. We are currently reaching out to anyone who has recently completed a qualified program with us to retroactively deliver badges.
Q. I completed a certification/workshop prior to March 2021. Can I receive a badge?
Unfortunately, no. We are only rolling out badges to individuals who completed sessions with us in the past 3 years.
Q. The certification or workshop that I attended is no longer offered. Can I receive a badge?
No. We are only able to issue badges for sessions that are part of our current catalog.
Q. Will I also receive a certificate?
Yes! Badges will be delivered in addition to digital certificates.
Q. Will the badges be offered through Credly or another digital credentialing provider?
Our badges are not currently issued through a digital credentialing provider. However, it is something we are looking into supporting in the future.

Questions about Recertification Credits
Q. Where can I apply credit hours toward my recertification for HCI and outside of HCI?
HCI: All credit hours earned in HCI certifications, conferences, and webcasts can be used toward HCI’s recertification process. Learn more about HCI recertification.
HR Certification Institute: Most HCI certifications, conferences, and webcasts have been approved for recertification credit hours toward aPHR™, PHR®, PHRca®, SPHR®, GPHR®, PHRi™, and SPHRi™ recertification through the HR Certification Institute.
SHRM: The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has pre-approved many HCI certifications, conferences, and webcasts for Professional Development Credits (PDCs) toward SHRM-CP℠ or SHRM-SCP℠ certifications.
ATD: Some HCI programs are pre-approved by the ATD Certification Institute for continuing education credits towards recertification by Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credential holders. For ATD’s recertification process, there are no program codes issued by HCI. Instead, you submit the title of the training or conference and the number of hours approved.
PMI: HCI learners can submit their HCI credits toward the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) PDU recertification process. HCI is not an approved training provider of PMI, but HCI courses about project management, leadership, or strategic and business management can be submitted to PMI by the PMI credential holder.
ICF: HCI is not an approved training provider of the International Coach Federation (ICF), but ICF credentialed coaches can submit their HCI credits as Continuing Education Credits (CCEs) in Resource Development.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
Due to the nature of live programs and events, including accommodation planning and state-, federal-, and venue-mandated capacity limitations — full refunds are not offered. However, we do offer the following:
- Participants who cancel 30 days or more prior to the event are eligible for a credit or refund, less a $50 cancellation fee. The credit will be valid for up to 90 days from date of cancellation.
- Participants who cancel 30 to 10 days prior to the event are not eligible for refunds but are eligible for payment transfer (credit) to another Simplify Compliance event, less a $50 cancellation fee. The credit will be valid for up to 90 days from date of cancellation.
- Participants who cancel less than 10 days prior to the event, or do not cancel and do not attend, will be considered “no shows” and will not be eligible for refunds.
